Scholarships with Remarkable

All scholarships were initiated in 2005 coinciding with the launch of 'Remarkable' and "Music for the Heart and Soul".

 

1. The Richard J. Smith Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship commemerates the life of Richard Smith, Marks Piano Teacher, from Towradgi Wollongong. Richard passed away after a long battle with cancer on January 21st 2000, just prior to his 72nd birthday and his memory lives on through this annual scholarship.  He is survived by his wife Val, children Fred, Cheryl, Lorraine and Rick. Mark was fortunate enough to recieve a scholarship himself at the age of 17 from Richard and this without doubt changed the course of the next 12 months of his life.

The Richard J. Smith Memorial Scholarship entails a full year (40 weeks) of tuition for the recipient. 

It is awarded annually at the End of Year Concert by Mark, to the student that has showed the most consistancy in their pedagodic studies and musical growth during the course of the year.

2006: Taran 'The Tazman' Brassington Inaugural Winner - awarded at 2005 EOYC

2007: Tim McEwan - awarded at 2006 EOYC

2008: Adrian Wright - awarded at 2007 EOYC

2009: Hannah Jover - awarded at 2008 EOYC

2010: Ben Maris - awarded at 2009 EOYC

2011: Shannai Brassington - awarded at 2010 EOYC

 

2. Remarkable Diligence to Practice Scholarship

This is a scholarship awarded for consistancy in practice particlulary towards exam preparation.

It entails 4 free lessons tuition in the year following, awarded at EOYC 

 

3. Remarkable Incentive Award Scholarship     

2 weeks free tuition to two students awarded at EOYC   

 

4.  Remarkable Encouragement award   

1 free lesson to one student for the following year, awarded at EOYC
