Gallery of Concerts
Sunday November 29th at 2:30pm saw the Launch of “Music for the Heart and Soul Opus 3” and the “Remarkable End of Year Concert for 2009”. It was held at the Wesley Church on the Mall, Wollongong. All performances were on the 6’ Steinway.

The “Out of the Blues” End of Term 3 Concert was held at St Stephens 2:30 Sunday 20th September 2009.
The theme was casual blue. Once again door takings went to Redkite – supporting children through cancer.
“Sebastian” the ‘Remarkable’ Mascot, atop the Yamaha upright (with Redkite dog collar!)

Tim McEwan (2007 R.J. Smith Scholarship holder) opened the show, leading the audience in the national anthem and then performing Grieg’s famous piano concerto in A minor and “Raindrops” from ‘Music for the Heart and Soul’ Opus 1.

Joel Obaydin in his trademark red hat gave a faultless performance with ‘The Calendar Song’
His brother Lachlan had the crowd enthralled with his rock style in ‘Rockin Tune’

Mark gave a short ‘workshop’ on the Blues to keep with the “Out of the Blues” theme.

Toby Barnhill (proudly wearing his Redkite wrist band) also got into the blues theme with a Boogie Blues in C!

A dramatic entrance from ‘Batman’ (aka CPH Man or Connor P.Hutchinson) had heads turning. He performed…you guessed it, the ‘Batman Theme’ – then morphed into Garth Vadar and took the crowd onto Star Wars !

The Remarkable End of Term 2 ‘In the Black’ Concert, was held at St Stephens Unanderra on Sunday June 28th at 2:30pm.
This gave students a chance to entertain their families and brush off the nerves before the following week’s exam regimen.
$650 was raised for Redkite in just over an hour, thanks to the generosity of those attending.

Current Richard J. Smith memorial Scholarship holder Hannah Jover, tried her hand as MC in
addition to entertaining with ‘I’ve Got Rhythm’ in readiness for her upcoming Grade 8 exam.

Connor Hutchinson played two pieces
ready for his Grade 2 exam and showed definite MC skills.

Vera Temelkovska performed a heartfelt rendition
of “The Swan” by Saint-Saens

“Guest Artist” Ken Thomson, (pictured with Mark)
showed the young performers the art of
‘leggiero’ playing of scales.

Ben Maris gave a powerful display
of Burgmüllers “Ballade in C minor”

Ben’s cousin Tim Newing, showed he was ready to take on his
first ever exam the following week, with an entertaining performance.

helped with the MCing and played ‘The Pink Panther’

The first Remarkable End of Term Concert was held at 2:30 on Sunday, April 5th 2009, at St Stephens Hall Unanderra.
Again another fundraiser for ‘Redkite – helping children through cancer’ – red and white was the theme!
Here, current Richard J. Smith Memorial Scholarship holder, smiling Hannah Jover,
is ready to dazzle the crowd with ‘Bumble Boogie’ as the opening number for the afternoon concert.

Mark performed “Raindrops” from ‘Music for the Heart and Soul Opus 1’

‘Sugar Plum’ Shannai Brassington celebrated her 11th birthday by performing
‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’ and was presented with ‘Melody the Redkite bear’ as a present.

Joel Obaydin & Toby Barnhill dressed in red and white for Redkite and stole the show
as they entertained the receptive audience at St Stephens, Unanderra.

A visit from the dreaded ‘Garth Vadar’ (grandson of Darth Vadar!) alias CPH, Connor Hutchinson, invaded the concert and came to perform “Star Wars”

2008 Richard J. Smith Scholarship holder Adrian Wright always adds a spark to any concert. He performed the ABBA hit ‘Money, Money, Money’
