This composition juxtaposes the Harmonic Minor and Blues Scales as a hybrid scale study. Often the Harmonic Minor is attributed to, or alluded to, as the Arabic or Persian scale / mode, having a certain middle eastern musical flavour, whilst the Blues finds its origins in the African influenced slave spirituals, which then made their way into early jazz forms.
 
This composition offers both Grade 3 and Grade 4 versions in the AMEB Grading level system.
